New York’s own Hoodie Allen announced his 30-city fall nationwide tour this week, which will feature support from fellow independent artists D-WHY, Mod Sun and OCD: Moosh. Lovely to see some attention being paid to newer & very worthile handheld VGM - plenty more where this came from - and in the form of an arrangement that takes the original, rather serious harpsichord + organ composition and goes nuts with it. That's a pretty good list you could do a lot worse. There are aspects of this mix that remind me of the following: Tetris, polka, 50's horror films, klezmer, chiptunes, Gogol Bordello, Michael Keaton, and Scooby Doo. Plus, you know, he still works in some shreddage, trading off with the synths, in addition to the rolling, oompah metal chugs. Sixto's been branching out a bit the last several years, and the results have all been excellent - always excited to see what he'll submit next, and like Larry, I was surprised by the overall approach here, but it works GREAT. If you had told me this was from a soundtrack like Grant Kirkhope's Grabbed by the Ghoulies, I would have definitely believed it! This one's a great testament to Sixto's musical range. "mirby linked to the source on irc, heard it, had to do it. Medrano sends us our FIRST ReMix of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for the 3DS!! For many of you I (understandably) had you at "Sixto Sounds," but this is actually kind of a shift for SS, as he works in a wider sound palette and lets some chippish synths take the lead on this dark, creepy rock jam with a ska-ish offbeat, ghostly thereminesque wailing, & spooky, would-have-gotten-away-with-it-if-it-weren't-for-you-meddlin'-kids, ghost-hunting energy! Seems like Juan's getting his money's worth out of Plogue Chipsounds :) He writes: SIXTO SOUNDS!!! Something Juanderful!! Mr.
